Note: It's important to remember that when you're submitting your listings for the firt time, the time it takes for them to get approved can be delayed if you continually make changes to the listing as you first submit it. Each time you edit a listing, you put yourself at the end of the line for review!
Search Engine Optimization for NF Listing Design
There are entire careers and volumes of reading material available in regards to search engine optimization. This little list below is just a few pointers I have to offer in regards to your search engine strategy for your NF home page and listings. I will update this as we all learn more! ;)
- although it may seem like a good idea to place your text within the image of your listing to avoid plagerism and theft, this kills your chance of being found in the NiteFlirt search function, as well as the indexing of your pages with the major search engines. I recommend using regular text with your key terms worked in for this reason.
If you MUST use text images, increase your chances of being found in by surfers by using the alt tags within your image source code. I've included an example below.
- Placing key terms in tiny text font at the end of your listing, the same color as your background is an old trick that the search engines have caught on to. Doing this may cause your listing to be blacklisted from the search engines. If enough speakers do this, it will effect the entire site and we will all suffer, so take the time to add relevent well chosen, keyword rich descriptive text to your listings instead!
